Quarterly accounting roundup: Q1 2026 update on important developments

Stephen is the communications leader within Deloitte’s National Office – Accounting and Reporting Services Group. As the Communications Leader, Stephen oversees the development, production and delivery of Deloitte technical accounting content and is the host of Deloitte’s Quarterly Accounting Roundup Dbriefs webcasts. In addition, Stephen provides accounting consultations to engagement teams, monitors accounting standard–setting activities, and writes internal and external publications primarily on the accounting for leases, digital assets, and financial instruments. Prior to that, Stephen was a Practice Fellow with the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) where he led the staff’s efforts on the financial asset impairment project. In this role, he actively participated in the standard–setting process by leading outreach efforts, developing and drafting issue papers, making recommendations to the Board on technical issues, and developing and drafting Accounting Standards Updates.

James is a member of the Accounting Services group in Deloitte & Touche LLP's national office, primarily focused on financial instrument issues and lease accounting. He leads the leasing and real estate subject matter team and represents Deloitte on the Financial Accounting Committee of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association and the FEI Lease Working Group. He also serves as Deputy Industry Professional Practice Director for the Energy and Resources attest practice. He is co-chair of AICPA Power and Utilities industry task force focused on implementation of the new revenue recognition standard. Prior to this role, James was a partner in Deloitte's Capital Markets practice where he focused on the energy industry and served as subject matter expert for derivatives and hedging activities. Prior to joining Deloitte, James worked in the audit division of Andersen where he served a variety of energy companies - domestically and abroad, and clients in the airline and healthcare industries.

Jamie currently is a clearing partner in Deloitte's National Office Accounting and Reporting Services group, where she consults with engagement teams on complex accounting matters, focusing on financial instruments, leases, and share-based compensation. She also leads the Accounting and Reporting market offering within Deloitte's Accounting & Reporting Advisory (ARA) practice. Jamie is based in Chicago but regularly engages with clients and teams nationwide to collaborate on their most challenging accounting issues. From 2018-2020 she worked as a professional accounting fellow in the United States Securities and Exchange Commission's Office of the Chief Accountant. In her role, she worked closely with registrants, standard-setters, auditors, and other Commission staff regarding the application of accounting standards, with a focus on matters involving leasing, financial assets, derivatives, debt, equity, and digital assets/cryptocurrency.

Adam is Managing Partner of Deloitte’s US Mergers, Acquisitions, and Restructuring Services practice. In this role, he is responsible for the strategy and delivery of Deloitte’s services to Corporate and Private Equity clients across each stage of the M&A and Performance Improvement/Restructuring lifecycle, collaborating with our clients to help them transform their businesses. Adam is a partner with Deloitte & Touche LLP and has more than 25 years of experience with Deloitte, including more than 20 years dedicated to M&A. He has advised on transactions with over $250 billion in value, including multi-billion dollar leveraged buyouts, growth acquisitions, strategic mergers, and complex carve-out transactions. His experience spans working with clients to help them maximize deal value through due diligence, deal structuring, operational and financial reporting, global integration, and divestiture activities. Previously, he served as Deloitte’s US Private Equity Leader, where he focused on delivering Deloitte’s full suite of services to Private Equity firms and their portfolio companies. Adam is based in our San Francisco office and previously worked in Los Angeles and Bermuda. Adam is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holds a B.A. in Business Economics with an emphasis in Accounting from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

A National Office Audit partner with more than 15 years of experience, Kristin leads the revenue recognition subject matter team within the Accounting Standards and Communications group. Prior to joining National Office, Kristin served audit clients in the Chicago market for ten years and was a Professional Practice Fellow at the FASB for four years, where she led the revenue recognition project team, helping to develop the final revenue standard that was issued in May 2014.
